Wrexham Release New Philly Inspired Away Jersey

Posted by Christie Gilmartin on

There has been much excitement building around the new project at Wrexham A.F.C. The National League club recently saw a takeover by a new consortium (RR McReynolds Company LLC) that is headed by 'It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia' star Rob McElhenney, along with superstar actor Ryan Reynolds.

McElhenney is now the Co-Chairman of the Welsh club and they have already made some eye-catching moves, such as the signing of Paul Mullin. Mullin was top scorer for Cambridge last season, with 32 goals, as he helped them achieve promotion to League One. He has now be persuaded to move down two leagues, in order to join this ambitious club. Mullin has cited a phonecall with the new Chairman as a major influencing factor for the move.

The New Away Jersey:

Now on to the real bit of business. Wrexham have released their Away Jersey for the 2021/22 season and it is pretty special. The shirt features an array of new sponsors and a number of personal touches linked to it's new chairman. The Jersey colour will be green, in homage to McElhenney's home of Philadelphia and it's biggest sports franchise the Philadelphia Eagles (Go Birds). Green is nothing new to Wrexham though and has featured in their kit selections a number of times and is the historic colours of the club, before they began to wear the Red & White which dons their Home jersey.

The Jersey features their three big new sponsors, in Tik Tok, Expedia and American Aviation Gin. They are three pretty huge sponsors which add to the kits appeal. Macron are the manufacturers once again and have created a stylish jersey, with the added black collar a great addition. One final homage is paid to McElhenney just below that black collar. The words 'It's Always Sunny' are printed into the shirt, referencing the show that made McElhenney famous and a personal favourite show of ours at the Jersey.

The new Jersey will go live on Wednesday 28th of July, both in store and online HERE. Be quick as the clamour for these could reach fever pitch pretty fast.

Co-Chairman Rob McElhenney: “I’m delighted that this kit brings together two of my great loves: Wrexham AFC and Philadelphia.

“I hope we build great memories together, in this famous green.”
